Birth is one of the most powerful experiences of a person's life — and for some, it brings up fear, anxiety, or unresolved pain from the past. Whether you're approaching birth with dread, or carrying the weight of a previous experience that didn't go the way you hoped, you deserve support that goes beyond the physical.

As a clinical psychologist and birth doula based in Amsterdam, I offer psychological support specifically around pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period — for international and expat families, in English and Spanish, online and in person.t.

Who this is for

This support is for you if you are pregnant and feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or afraid of birth — sometimes called tokophobia or fear of childbirth.

It is also for you if you have been through a birth that felt traumatic, frightening, or out of your control, and you are still carrying that experience — whether you are pregnant again or not.

And it is for you if you are in the postpartum period and struggling emotionally in ways that feel hard to name or explain to the people around you.

You do not need to have a diagnosis. You do not need to be in crisis. You just need to feel that something isn't right, and want support from someone who understands birth from the inside out.

What we work on together

Sessions are shaped around you and what you're carrying. We might explore the fears or stories you have about birth — where they come from and what they mean. We might process a previous birth experience that felt frightening or out of your control. We might work on building a sense of safety and trust in your body and the process ahead.

I draw on my background in clinical psychology, cognitive behavioural therapy, and infant-parent mental health — alongside my years of experience as a birth doula. This means I understand not just the emotional landscape, but the physical reality of labour and birth, the Dutch healthcare system, and what it means to go through this far from home and family.

How it works

Sessions are available online and in person in Amsterdam. They are offered in English and Spanish.

We start with a free introductory call — 20 minutes — so you can ask questions, share what's on your mind, and feel whether this is the right fit. There is no pressure and no obligation.

From there, we work at your pace. Some people need two or three sessions. Others find it helpful to have ongoing support across pregnancy and into the postpartum period. We decide together what makes sense for you.

You don't have to carry this alone. Reach out for a free call and let's talk about what support might look like for you.
