HI, I’M LUA. she/her

Being a doula grounds me. It connects me to something essential—presence, care, and trust. Supporting people through birth is not just what I do, it’s what sustains and transforms me. It’s a shared space of strength, vulnerability, and human connection.

Birth pulls everyone into full presence. In that space, the noise falls away. There’s no hierarchy—just a moment that asks for deep attention, care, and steadiness. That’s where I meet the families I support: grounded, embodied, and fully engaged.

I’ve felt connected to the world of birth long before I truly understood it. It was during my first pregnancy that this pull became a clear path. I immersed myself in books and podcasts, eager to understand birth. But what truly changed everything was the care I received. That steady presence left a lasting impact on me; it planted a seed that, over time, would grow into my own calling as a birth worker.

That calling deepened when I trained as a doula in San Francisco in 2018, where I began integrating my background in psychology with my work as a doula. Over time, supporting families one-on-one naturally expanded into building community. Through co-founding Hello Doula and teaching at The Labor Department in Amsterdam, I’ve been able to support not just individuals, but a growing network of birth workers—deepening our collective impact and creating stronger support systems for families.

I understand that birth is more than just a physical event—it’s a profound transition that requires tenderness and care. In today’s world, where every family’s journey is unique, my role as a doula has never been more essential. Birth takes a village.
With 7 years of experience in the birth space, I bring both professional grounding and lived experience to my work. I live in Amsterdam West with my partner and our three sons—each born five years apart—who constantly remind me what it means to grow, adapt, and stay present. Every family I support teaches me something new, and I carry those lessons forward with care and gratitude. This work keeps me rooted—in myself, in others, and in what truly matters.
